The Inglewood City Council voted in favor of repealing the city’s residency restrictions which prohibited registrants from living in most of that city during its meeting on January 24. The City Council is expected to finalize its decision to repeal the restrictions during its next meeting which is scheduled for January 31.
“This is a significant victory for registrants and their families,” stated ACSOL president Janice Bellucci. “No longer will families be separated by a law that failed to increase public safety and yet violated the Constitution.”
If the City Council finalizes its decision to repeal the restrictions on January 31, the repeal will become effective 30 days later.
Fantastic news! Best decision that they could have made. Further proof that it is possible for lawmakers, and people in political office to use Data, empirical evidence instead of baseless emotions to make decisions.
No longer surprising, and that’s a good thing. Every time I hear another city in California adopting these ordinances i chuckle knowing that i can chalk the city council of that city as idiots. Educating idiots, one at a time i guess. Have they been living under a rock? Have they not heard about all the victories? Did they not get the notices from CARSOL/ACSOL?
Oh wonderful. Inglewood is full of gangs and drug dealers. Really great. Maybe they should start a community outreach program!
